Flight and other transport

We flew SAS to Ostersund and stopped in Helsinki on the inbound and in Stockholm on the outbound flight. Both great airports with enough to do. 

When you are not driving your own car all the way to Sweden, I would strongly recommend going to Are. It's the biggest ski area in Sweden and is made up of Are, Duved and Tjegefläll. 

As it's the most popular area, all is well organised. We booked the Flygtaxi from the airport to Tjegefläll at a very reasonable price. Please check that your accomodation is close to a drop off of the bus. It's all very clear on their site. 

Stay

We had booked a lovely place via Airbnb and the communication with the owners was excellent. I can strongly recommend it. It was literally right next to the kids slope! 

Period

We went over de Christmas period. We had good snow the first days but then it suddenly went up to 8 degrees and then it rained, so the snow turned to ice making it more challenging but all by all a lovely period to be in Sweden. Take into account that you only have about 6 hours of daylight as the sun comes up after 9 am and sets again at 2:30pm. The slopes open at 9am and close at 3pm.
